Frequently Asked Questions

šŸ’Ž About Our Jewelry

What metals do you use in your jewelry?

We craft all our pieces in solid 14K and 18K gold available in yellow, white, and rose gold. We never use gold-plated, gold-filled, or vermeil metals. Every piece is stamped with its metal purity mark.

Are your diamonds real and certified?

Yes. Every diamond we use is 100% natural (or lab-grown, clearly labeled) and certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute). You receive the certificate with your purchase.

What is the difference between 14K and 18K gold?

14K gold contains 58.5% pure gold and is more durable and scratch-resistant — ideal for everyday wear. 18K gold contains 75% pure gold, has a richer color, and is slightly softer. We recommend 18K for special occasion pieces and 14K for daily wear.

Do you offer lab-grown diamonds?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are physically, chemically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They are graded by the same standards and certified by IGI. We are fully transparent — every listing clearly states whether the diamond is natural or lab-grown.

What colored gemstones do you use?

We work with sapphires (all colors), rubies, emeralds, tanzanite, morganite, aquamarine, alexandrite, tourmaline, spinel, and other precious and semi-precious stones. All gemstones are natural unless explicitly stated as lab-created.

Are your gemstones treated?

Some gemstones undergo industry-standard treatments (e.g., heat treatment for sapphires and rubies) which are permanent and widely accepted. We always disclose any treatments on the product listing and certificate.

How do I know the quality of the diamond I'm getting?

Every diamond is graded on the 4Cs — Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight. These details are listed on product page and confirmed in the accompanying IGI certificate. We're happy to walk you through the grading report on a call.

Do you use conflict-free diamonds?

Absolutely. All our diamonds comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, which ensures they are conflict-free. We only work with suppliers who adhere to strict ethical sourcing standards.

Can I choose the specific diamond for my piece?

Yes, for custom orders. We'll share a curated selection of diamonds within your budget and specifications, and you choose the one you love. For ready pieces, the diamond is pre-selected and its details are listed on the product page.

What is the difference between white gold and platinum?

White gold is yellow gold alloyed with white metals (like palladium) and coated with rhodium for a bright finish. Platinum is a naturally white, denser, and more durable metal — hypoallergenic and ideal for those with sensitive skin. We currently offer white gold; contact us if you'd like a piece in platinum.

Do you make pieces in sterling silver?

We specialize in fine gold jewelry. We do not currently offer sterling silver pieces as our focus is on lasting, heirloom-quality fine jewelry.

How long will my jewelry last?

With proper care, fine gold jewelry lasts a lifetime and beyond — it's heirloom quality. Gold does not tarnish or corrode. Prong settings may need re-tipping every 10–15 years with regular wear, which is a standard maintenance service.

šŸ›’ Ordering & Customization

How do I place an order?

Browse our collection, select your preferred metal, size, and any customization options, then add to cart and proceed to checkout. For custom orders, use our contact form or email us directly.

Can I fully customize a piece?

Yes. We offer end-to-end customization — metal type and karat, gemstone type and quality, setting style, ring size, chain length, engraving, and even entirely bespoke designs from scratch.

How does the custom order process work?
  • Step 1: Contact us with your idea, inspiration images, and budget
  • Step 2: We provide a design consultation (virtual or email)
  • Step 3: We share a CAD (3D design) rendering for your approval
  • Step 4: You approve and pay a 50% deposit
  • Step 5: We craft your piece (3–5 weeks)
  • Step 6: Final photos shared before shipping; balance due before dispatch
How do I find my ring size?

We recommend getting sized at a local jeweler for the most accurate measurement. You can also use our ring size chart (available on product pages). As a general rule, fingers are slightly larger in the evening and in warm weather — size accordingly.

What if I order the wrong size?

We offer one complimentary resize within 30 days of delivery. Simply contact us, ship the ring back, and we'll resize and return it. Note: heavily engraved or eternity bands may have limited resize options.

Can I request a piece I don't see on the website?

Absolutely. We take fully bespoke commissions. Share your vision via email or Instagram DM — a sketch, a photo, a description — and we'll bring it to life.

Can I make changes to an existing design?

Yes. Most of our designs can be modified — different stone, different metal, different setting, added engraving, etc. Contact us before ordering to discuss what's possible.

Do you offer engraving?

Yes. We offer inside-band engraving for rings and engraving on pendants and lockets. Standard engraving is up to 20 characters. Mention your engraving text at checkout or in your order notes.

How long does a standard (non-custom) order take to be ready?

Most ready-to-ship pieces ship within 3–5 business days. Made-to-order standard pieces (e.g., a specific size) take 1–2 weeks. Custom/bespoke pieces take 3–5 weeks.

Can I order as a gift without the recipient knowing the price?

Yes. We never include pricing information inside the package. You can also request a gift receipt (without price) to be included.

What if I want to see the piece before committing to a custom order?

We share detailed CAD renderings and, upon request, wax models or 3D prints before final production. We want you to be 100% confident before we set a single stone.

Do you have a minimum order value?

There is no minimum for ready pieces. For fully custom bespoke commissions, we typically work with a minimum budget of $500 due to the design and craftsmanship involved.

šŸ’³ Pricing & Payment

Why is fine jewelry priced the way it is?

Our pricing reflects the true cost of materials (solid gold, certified diamonds, natural gemstones), skilled craftsmanship, certification, quality control, and luxury packaging. We do not inflate prices — you're paying for real value that holds over time.

All prices are listed in USD. At checkout, international customers can pay in their local currency — the conversion is handled automatically at the current exchange rate.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank wire transfers for orders above $3,000.

Is it safe to pay on your website?

Yes. Shop Pay Installments allows you to split your purchase into 4 interest-free payments or longer-term monthly plans. Available at checkout for eligible orders.

Can I pay via bank wire transfer?

Yes, for orders above $3,000. Contact us and we'll provide wire transfer details. Orders are held for 3 business days pending payment confirmation.

Do prices include taxes?

Prices shown do not include taxes. Sales tax is calculated and added at checkout based on your shipping address as required by applicable law.

Will I be charged import duties on international orders?

International orders may be subject to import duties, customs fees, and local taxes depending on your country. These charges are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in our prices. We recommend checking your country's import regulations before ordering.

Do you offer price matching?

We do not offer price matching. Our pricing reflects the quality, certification, and craftsmanship of each piece. We believe our value speaks for itself.

Can the price of a custom piece change after I get a quote?

Quotes are valid for 14 days. After that, material prices (especially gold and diamonds) may fluctuate. We'll always notify you of any changes before proceeding.

šŸ”§ Care & Maintenance

How should I store my jewelry?

Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or the original box to prevent scratching. Keep jewelry away from humidity, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures. A jewelry box with individual compartments is ideal.

How do I clean my gold jewelry at home?

Soak the piece in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 15–20 minutes. Gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners for pieces with fracture-filled or treated stones.

How long does international shipping take?

Typically 7–14 business days depending on the destination country and customs clearance. Delays due to customs are outside our control.

What should I avoid when wearing my jewelry?
  • Chlorine (pools, hot tubs) — can weaken gold alloys
  • Harsh chemicals (bleach, cleaning products, acetone)
  • Perfumes, hairspray, and lotions — apply these before putting on jewelry
  • Physical activities, sports, and heavy lifting
  • Sleeping with rings on — can bend prongs over time
How often should I have my jewelry professionally cleaned?

We recommend a professional cleaning and inspection every 6–12 months. This ensures prongs are secure, stones are tight, and the piece looks its best.

Do you offer professional cleaning services?

Yes. We offer cleaning and inspection for all pieces purchased from us. Ship your piece to us (insured) and we'll clean, polish, and inspect it.

What is rhodium plating and does my white gold need it?

White gold is naturally slightly yellowish and is coated with rhodium (a platinum-group metal) for a bright white finish. This coating wears off over time (typically 1–2 years with daily wear). Re-rhodium plating is a simple, affordable service we offer.

Can I shower or swim with my jewelry on?

We strongly advise against it. Chlorine, saltwater, and soaps can dull the finish, weaken prong settings, and damage certain gemstones over time. Always remove jewelry before water activities.

What should I do if a stone falls out?

Stop wearing the piece immediately to avoid losing the stone. Contact us with photos — if the stone loss is due to a manufacturing defect, we'll replace it at no charge. Keep the stone if you find it.

How do I maintain the shine of my jewelry long-term?

Regular gentle cleaning, proper storage, avoiding harsh chemicals, and annual professional polishing will keep your piece looking like new for decades. Gold is a remarkably durable metal — with care, it truly lasts forever.

šŸ’ Bridal & Engagement

Do you specialize in engagement rings?

Yes. Bridal and engagement jewelry is one of our core specialties. We offer a curated collection of ready designs as well as fully custom engagement rings tailored to your vision and budget.

How far in advance should I order an engagement ring?

For custom rings, we recommend ordering 6–8 weeks before you need it. For ready designs in a standard size, 2–3 weeks is sufficient. Rush orders may be possible — contact us to discuss.

What engagement ring styles do you offer?

We offer solitaires, halos, three-stone rings, pavĆ© bands, split shanks, vintage-inspired designs, east-west settings, bezel settings, and more — in round, oval, cushion, emerald, pear, marquise, and other diamond shapes.

Can I design a completely unique engagement ring?

Absolutely. We specialize in bespoke engagement rings. Share your inspiration (images, sketches, descriptions) and we'll create a CAD rendering for your approval before crafting.

Do you offer matching wedding bands?

Yes. We design wedding bands to perfectly complement your engagement ring — whether a flush fit, a curved band, or a straight eternity band. We recommend ordering both together for the best fit.

What is the most popular diamond shape for engagement rings?

Round brilliant diamonds are the most popular due to their exceptional sparkle. Oval and cushion cuts are trending strongly. Emerald and pear cuts are favored for a more architectural, editorial look — which aligns well with our brand aesthetic.

Do you offer a proposal package?

Yes. We can arrange a special proposal package including a velvet ring box, a handwritten note, and optional extras like a bottle of champagne (local delivery only). Contact us to arrange.

Can I upgrade my diamond later?

Yes. We offer a diamond upgrade program — trade in your original diamond and apply its value toward a larger or higher-quality stone. Contact us for details and eligibility.

What is the average cost of an engagement ring at JewelsBySourabh?

šŸŒ International Orders & Duties

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship to the US, Canada, UK, EU countries, Australia, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and many more. If your country isn't listed at checkout, contact us and we'll explore options.

Will I have to pay customs duties?

Most countries charge import duties and taxes on fine jewelry. These are determined by your country's customs authority and are the buyer's responsibility. We cannot predict or control these charges.

How much are import duties typically?

This varies widely by country. For example, India charges significant import duties on gold jewelry (currently 15%+). The EU charges VAT on imports. We recommend checking with your local customs office before ordering.

Can you undervalue my package to reduce duties?

No. We are legally required to declare the accurate value of all shipments. Falsifying customs declarations is illegal and we will not do so under any circumstances.

What happens if my package is held by customs?

Customs clearance is the buyer's responsibility. If your package is held, you may need to provide documentation or pay duties to release it. Contact us if you need any documentation from our side.

Do you have a VAT number for EU orders?

Contact us for current VAT registration details for EU shipments. Requirements vary by order value and destination country.

Can I return an international order?

Yes, within our 14-day return policy. International return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility. Please use an insured, trackable service and contact us before shipping.
